Gulf Nations Seek Hormuz Bypass Amid Conflict Disruptions
Oman's Energy and Minerals Minister Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi emphasized the need for alternative liquefied natural gas (LNG) routes that can bypass the Strait of Hormuz during a session at Gastech Bangkok 2026.
The conflict in the Persian Gulf has disrupted shipments, highlighting the region's reliance on a single waterway for exports. Adnoc Gas Plc is considering building a new LNG export facility outside Hormuz to mitigate this issue.
Oman currently operates one LNG export plant that doesn't depend on Hormuz, and Al-Aufi suggested exploring alternative options through Oman or Yemen.
