Guyana Expands Caribbean Energy Partnerships Amid Rapid Oil Growth
Guyana is rapidly expanding its energy partnerships across the Caribbean as the country's oil production grows. The country has signed several agreements with Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and other regional partners to advance cooperation on upstream development, infrastructure, and energy security.
The agreement builds on a broader regional strategy. In May, Guyana and the Dominican Republic formalized an upstream partnership through an agreement covering the Berbice Block. Under the deal, Dominican state-owned refiner Refinería Dominicana de Petróleo acquired a 10% participating interest in the block.
Guyana is expected to increase crude oil production to 1.3 MMbpd by 2027 and 1.7 MMbpd by 2030. The country's rapidly growing oil production makes it an increasingly important driver of regional energy development.
