Guyana's Oil Production Set for Record Break with Arrival of Fifth FPSO Vessel
The government of Guyana welcomed the arrival of Errea Wittu, its fifth and largest Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, which will help take oil production beyond one million barrels a day.
The US$12.7 billion project is expected to extract more than 800 million barrels of recoverable oil, with first oil anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026.
According to Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat, the arrival of Errea Wittu represents an important chapter in Guyana's oil and gas development story. He added that production is poised to cross the one-million-barrel-per-day mark, bringing greater responsibility to ensure Guyanese continue to benefit from the sector.
The new FPSO, constructed by Japan-based MODEC, will add approximately 250,000 barrels per day to national output and push it above one million barrel a day for the first time. Currently, Guyana's four operating FPSOs produce roughly between 900 to 920,000 barrels per day.
