Hahn & Co. Sharpens Shipping Portfolio Competitiveness Through Fleet Reshuffling
Hahn & Co., one of South Korea's leading private equity firms, is reshaping its portfolio companies SK Shipping and H-Line Shipping to sharpen their competitiveness.
The proposed transaction involves SK Shipping receiving 16 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from H-Line Shipping in exchange for 12 tankers and approximately $300 million in cash.
The deal is subject to approval by relevant shippers and creditors, but once completed, it will see SK Shipping's assets rise to about 11 trillion won ($7.8 billion), while H-Line Shipping's will stand at around 5 trillion won.
This marks the latest step in Hahn & Co.'s decade-long effort to transform the two shipping businesses into specialized operators built on long-term contracts rather than volatile spot-market freight rates.
