Hanwha Group is expanding its U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) business to boost synergy between its defense and shipbuilding operations in the United States.

The company has established Hanwha Horizon USA, a new entity that will serve as the control tower for Hanwha Aerospace's LNG operations.

Hanwha Horizon USA will initially supply U.S. LNG to Hanwha Energy's Yeosu LNG power plant, which is set to begin commercial operation in 2029.

The company plans to expand its LNG supply to power producers and energy companies in South Korea and abroad over the medium to long term.

Hanwha's new LNG venture aims to strengthen domestic energy security while serving as leverage to expand the group's business in the United States.
