Heatwave Fuels NATGAS Price Spike
Natural Gas (NATGAS) saw its stock price rise by 2.15% on August 19, driven primarily by increased demand due to sustained above-average temperatures across key population centers in the American South, West, and Central regions.
The prolonged heatwave led to a surge in cooling degree days, prompting power utilities to maximize natural gas burn for electricity generation to meet peak air-conditioning loads.
Domestic power burn remained exceptionally strong, holding above seasonal averages and providing the main demand-side impetus for the price increase.
