Hecla Mining Surges on Silver Price Rally
Hecla Mining Company's stock saw a significant surge on Wednesday, climbing 14.43% to finish at $20.54. This jump was largely driven by the rise in precious metals prices, with spot silver reaching almost 4% to $65.80 an ounce.
The increase in silver prices had a substantial impact on Hecla's stock, outpacing its counterpart Coeur Mining's 13.07% rise and trading at a higher volume multiple. This surge has taken up a significant portion of Wall Street's expected gains, with the average price target from nine analysts standing at $23.53, suggesting a potential upside of 14.6%. However, analyst opinions are still divided, with some maintaining Hold ratings while others have reaffirmed their Buy recommendations.
Hecla's improved balance sheet has also contributed to its recent performance, boasting zero net debt and holding cash reserves of $483 million as of June 30. The company repaid $263 million in senior notes during this period, demonstrating its financial stability.
