Hegseth Threatens to Sink Iranian Oil Tankers
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has issued a stark warning to Iran that Washington will destroy and sink Iranian oil tankers if Tehran attacks US Navy ships. This threat follows reported strikes near Kharg Island, which is Iran's main oil export hub.
Hegseth said on X, quoting Admiral Brad Cooper of the US Central Command, 'If Iran shoots at US ships, we will destroy (and sink) their oil tankers. All they have to do is not shoot at @USNavy.'
This warning comes after a US strike on three Iranian oil tankers near Kharg Island. The strikes followed reported ballistic missile attacks by Iran's IRGC against two US Navy ships.
