Heirs Energies Resumes Gas Supply to Geometric Power After Maintenance

Heirs Energies has completed its turnaround maintenance (TAM) at its associated gas gathering (AGG) facilities in Agbada, near Port Harcourt in Rivers State. This move has allowed the company to resume gas supply to Geometric Power's 188-megawatt plant in Aba, Abia State.

According to Dr Nonso Okolo, Managing Director of Geometric Power Ltd (GPAL), the resumption of gas supply has already started to have a positive impact on power distribution. 'Everyone, not just our company but also Aba Power, which derives its electricity from the Geometric Power Plant, is excited because the non-gas supply in the last few days has adversely affected socioeconomic activity in Aba,' he said.

The maintenance work involved the replacement of a critical gas pressure-pumping component that was flown in from the United States 'at a great cost to Heirs Energies.' Additionally, the company performed a TAM at the AGG facility to recharge the entire system. This effort is part of an ongoing rehabilitation process aimed at addressing aging gas infrastructure issues in the Eastern flank of the country.

Experts have praised Heirs Energies for its investment in rehabilitating gas pipelines and acquiring world-class technology and knowledge. 'Heirs Energies represents what indigenous oil and gas firms can do when challenged and given the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities,' said Dike Ejike, an Abuja-based mechanical engineer and power consultant.
