Hindustan Copper PBT Surges 163% as Global Demand for Copper Rises
Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has reported a significant surge in its financial performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27. The company's Profit Before Tax (PBT) jumped by 163% to Rs. 471.77 crore, with a corresponding increase in Profit After Tax (PAT) of 163% to Rs. 352.61 crore.
HCL's Revenue from Operations also saw an 81% rise to Rs. 936.50 crore in the June 2026 quarter compared to the same period last year. The company attributes its strong performance to seasonal trends and progress in its ongoing mine expansion plan.
The company aims to achieve a target of 12.2 MTPA ore production by 2030, with intensified monitoring of intermediate milestones for expansion projects. HCL is also making headway in the reopening of closed mines in Jharkhand, acquiring new mines in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, and exploring mines in Chile.
The LME copper price has crossed USD 14,000/MT, which bodes well for HCL. As the global economy transitions towards renewable energy and electric mobility, driven by advancements in AI and strengthened decarbonization policies, the demand for copper is expected to surge in the coming years.
