Hindustan Copper Q1 Profit Surges 162% on Elevated Global Copper Prices
Hindustan Copper Limited reported a significant increase in its financial performance for the first quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year. The state-owned mining company recorded a consolidated net profit of Rs 352.37 crore, representing a 162.5% rise compared to the same period last year.
The improvement in year-on-year results has been largely driven by favorable conditions in the global commodity market. Copper prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) have remained elevated, exceeding $14,000 per tonne. The company has indicated that global demand for the metal remains strong, supported by the ongoing shift toward renewable energy and the growth of electric vehicle manufacturing.
However, the company's performance moderated when viewed against the previous quarter. Compared to the January-March 2026 period (Q4 FY26), both net profit and revenue witnessed a decline of approximately 21% and 19%, respectively.
