Hindustan Copper Rallies 234% in Three Years on Record Copper Prices and Expansion Plans
Hindustan Copper Ltd (NSE: HINDCOPPER) is India's only vertically integrated copper miner, and it has seen a remarkable rise in its share price over the past three years. The company's stock has surged by approximately 234% in this period, making it one of the top-performing stocks in India.
The key reasons behind this impressive performance are the record-high copper prices, significant increase in profits, and expansion plans. Copper prices hit an all-time high of USD 14,617 per tonne on September 8, 2026, which boosted Hindustan Copper's revenue. The company's net profit more than tripled between FY24 and FY26, from Rs 295 crore to Rs 921 crore.
In addition to these factors, Hindustan Copper has announced plans to nearly triple its mining capacity by 2029-30, backed by a capital investment of over Rs 7,000 crore. The company also emerged as the preferred bidder for the Baghwari Khirkhori copper and associated mineral block in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh, which further contributed to its growth.
The Hindustan Copper share price has traded near Rs 531.50 on September 10, 2026, giving the company a market value of approximately Rs 51,480 crore. While the valuations are now rich at a PE near 45, the upcoming QIP adds dilution risk.
