Hindustan Copper Surges on Record Copper Prices, Expansion Plans
Hindustan Copper shares surged 7% to ₹568 on August 17 as global copper prices hit near-record highs due to supply tightness. This comes after the company's strong Q1 FY27 results, where net profit jumped 162% year-on-year.
The rally in Hindustan Copper shares mirrors a surge in global copper prices, with immediate copper priced higher than future contracts on the London Metal Exchange (LME). The LME market is experiencing supply shortages, driving metal values toward record peaks.
Hindustan Copper has reported strong financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Net profit reached ₹352 crore, a 162% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue grew by 81% to ₹936 crore.
The company has outlined an expansion plan to boost its domestic mining and processing capacity. Hindustan Copper intends to invest approximately ₹7,189 crore over the next five years to reduce India's reliance on imported metal.
