Hinson Backs War on Oil Giants' Dime
Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) has voted against ending US military hostilities in Iran, despite receiving tens of thousands of dollars from major oil companies.
The FEC records show that Hinson's campaign and PACs have taken $64,500 from oil and gas companies since 2021, including Chevron, ExxonMobil, Valero, Phillips 66, and the American Petroleum Institute (API).
After the war in Iran began in March, these companies gave Hinson $21,000 for her 2026 US Senate campaign.
As a result of the war, international crude oil prices surged to an average $96 per barrel in the second quarter of 2026, with ExxonMobil reporting $14.53 billion in profits between April and June, more than double its profit from the same period in 2025.
