China's net gold imports via Hong Kong surged in June, more than doubling from the same month last year to 50.679 metric tons.

This represents a significant increase from June 2025's figure of 19.366 tons, but is actually down about 5% from May's 53.674 tons.

The total amount of gold imported via Hong Kong in June was 78.147 tons, up nearly 20% from the previous month's 65.562 tons.

The spot price of gold fell by more than 11% in June, marking a fourth consecutive decline.

Despite this, China's central bank reported its largest monthly increase in gold reserves in over two and a half years, with holdings reaching 75.44 million fine troy ounces by the end of June.
