Hong Kong to Host Global Energy Event Focusing on Sustainability
Hong Kong will host a major global energy event in October, featuring leaders from major corporations and government officials discussing global energy security and sustainability. The International Gas Union's (IGU) 2026 Council Meeting and 'Empowering a Sustainable Future' Summit will take place from October 26 to 29, with Towngas serving as the host organisation.
The event marks the first time Hong Kong has hosted an IGU Council Meeting, and it reflects the city's growing importance in the global energy sector. The summit will focus on key issues such as green finance, regional energy development, and the challenges faced by the natural gas industry.
Towngas Managing Director Peter Wong Wai-yee stated that hosting the event provides a platform for the global industry to build networks and share experiences in advancing the green energy transition. The IGU is the world's most influential international non-profit membership organisation of the global Gas industry, with members accounting for over 90% of the global Gas market.
