Hormuz Oil Transits at Record Levels Despite Contradictory Ship-Tracking Data
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that 17 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, marking the highest level since the war with Iran disrupted shipping.
This claim contradicts preliminary ship-tracking data from Kpler, which recorded only five commodity vessels and no liquid tankers transiting the waterway that day.
The discrepancy may be due to vessels having their transponders switched off, which reduces their visibility in the data.
