Hormuz Strait Ship Crossings Plummet Amid Rising Tensions
Ship crossings at the Strait of Hormuz have slowed significantly due to growing concerns over risks to shipping in the Middle East. On Thursday, just seven commodity ships crossed the waterway, down from 14 on Wednesday. This marked a notable drop, according to Kpler data.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global oil and gas trade, with nearly one-fifth of all shipments passing through it. However, no very large crude carriers or liquefied natural gas tankers were among the vessels that crossed on Thursday. One propane and butane carrier did transit out via the Iranian route.
