Hormuz Tensions Escalate as Iran and Oman Finalize Safe Routes Agreement
Negotiations between Iran and Oman are in their final stages to determine safe routes through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei. This comes as tensions remain high in the region following a series of attacks on oil facilities.
The UAE has also stated that its energy exports will not be 'held hostage' by the ongoing conflict, with Presidential Adviser Anwar Gargash announcing plans to build alternative routes for trade and commerce.
Baghahi warned US Vice President JD Vance that any attempt to adopt a UN resolution against Iran would be met with reciprocal action from Tehran. He also revealed that a Qatari delegation is in the country to help de-escalate tensions, while Iranian Navy commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani stated that Washington's military presence in the region could be 'grounded' if necessary.
