Hormuz Traffic Slows Amid Stalled US-Iran Peace Talks
The Strait of Hormuz has seen a slight increase in traffic from weekend numbers, but still remains low amid stalled US-Iran peace talks. According to preliminary shipping data on Tuesday, six commodity ships transited the strait on Monday, with three entering and three exiting the Gulf.
These numbers are lower than the 10-day average of 11 ships. No very large crude carriers or tankers carrying liquefied natural gas passed through during this time period. Some vessels may have been passing through with their transponders switched off and were not included in the tally.
The Xavia, a Very Large Gas Carrier, entered the strait via the Iranian route under ballast on Monday. A medium-range fuel tanker and an intermediate-range tanker also entered the Gulf during this time period.
