Houthi Attack Hits Saudi Arabia's Jazan Refinery on Red Sea Coast

Saudi Arabia's Jazan refinery on the Red Sea coast was hit by a reported Houthi attack, according to Yemen's Houthi rebels. The group claimed they struck the facility with a drone, saying the strike was precise.

The attack came hours after Saudi Arabia said it had put out a fire at the refinery without giving the cause of the blaze. In July, the Houthis announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia, hitting Saudi tankers in the Red Sea.

The Yemeni threat to shipping and Saudi oil facilities comes as Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz remains a central flashpoint between Tehran and Washington amid efforts to end the Middle East war begun by the U.S. and Israel in February.
