Houthi Attack on Saudi Oil Tankers Creates Second Chokepoint in Global Oil Supplies

The ongoing conflict between Iran and the US has created another chokepoint in global oil supplies after the Houthi attack on two Saudi oil tankers.

The Houthi militants, who are aligned with Iran, struck two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea as part of a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia.

This move threatens to create a second chokepoint on global oil supplies alongside Iran's near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The attack has led to five tankers changing course in the Red Sea to avoid the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and three tankers loaded with Saudi oil for China and India making U-turns on Tuesday.
