Houthi Attacks Choke Global Oil Routes Amid Saudi Disruptions

Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities have led to a significant drop in shipping activity through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, disrupting global oil routes. On Sunday, only 11 commodity vessels transited the strait, the lowest daily traffic recorded in months.

The disruption is part of the Houthi's effort to blockade Saudi exports and expand the U.S.-Iran conflict that has already choked oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to shipping data from Kpler, seven vessels passed through Bab el-Mandeb on Sunday, including three oil tankers carrying Saudi crude. Two of these tankers were very large crude carriers (VLCCs) heading to the port of Yanbu to load Saudi crude.
