Houthi Attacks Ignite Fires at Saudi Oil Facilities
A wave of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities and utilities has left at least 73 people injured, including women and children. The attacks, which occurred early Tuesday morning, also ignited fires at several oil facilities in Saudi Arabia's southern region.
The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen described the attacks as a 'serious escalation' and a 'flagrant violation of the kingdom's sovereignty.' Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition, vowed retaliation against the Houthi rebels, stating that they will take all necessary operational measures to deter them.
The attacks come amid escalating clashes between the Houthis and Saudi-backed government forces in Yemen's civil war. The conflict has killed at least 150,000 people, according to UN estimates, and pushed the country to the brink of famine.
