Houthi Attacks on Saudi Oil Infrastructure Spark Global Supply Concerns
The Iran-backed Houthi faction in Yemen has claimed responsibility for hitting Saudi oil infrastructure, including the Red Sea export hub of Yanbu and a refinery complex in Jizan. The attacks, which have not been confirmed by Riyadh, are part of an ongoing conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi rebels.
The Houthis said they targeted 'sensitive Aramco-affiliated facilities' with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones, according to Tech Times. The attacks set the Jizan refinery complex on fire, which was confirmed by NASA imagery.
Saudi Arabia has been rerouting its oil shipments through a pipeline to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran-backed forces have disrupted shipping in recent months. The U.S. and Iran continue to clash over the strait, with President Donald Trump warning of 'very strong military action' against Iran if talks between the two countries are unfruitful.
