Houthi Attacks on Saudi Oil Refinery Leave 11 Dead
Houthi rebels in Yemen launched a series of attacks on Sunday, killing at least 11 people and wounding 32 others. The strikes targeted Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, including an oil refinery, according to a medical source in the Yemeni port city of Mokha.
The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said the group had struck 'Saudi enemy' troops and equipment with missiles and drones. The attacks came as tensions between regional allies of the United States and Iran flared, marking a breakdown in the UN-backed 2022 accord aimed at ending Yemen's civil war.
The Houthi rebels have been engaged in a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia, hitting Saudi tankers in the Red Sea and the kingdom's oil infrastructure. The group has also announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has become a central flashpoint between Tehran and Washington amid efforts to end the Middle East war.
