Houthi Attacks Push Oil Prices Near $100
Saudi Arabia's energy sector is under attack again after several facilities and installations in the southern region were targeted on Tuesday morning. The attacks, which caused fires at multiple locations, have led to a temporary halt in some operations.
The Ministry of Energy confirmed that several residents were injured during the attack, but did not provide further details on which energy sites were targeted or what operations were disrupted.
The Houthis, allies of Iran, had threatened Saudi shipping in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait in July. This latest attack comes as oil prices continue to climb towards $100 per barrel, with Brent Crude nearing $99 a barrel at $98.70 and WTI Crude topping $94 a barrel.
Saudi Arabia is taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of facilities and personnel, as well as the continuity of operations in accordance with approved operational plans.
