Houthi-Backed Attack Targets Saudi Military Installations Amid Regional Tensions
The Houthi force in Yemen has launched a large-scale military operation against Saudi Arabia, targeting multiple military installations and infrastructure. The attack, which included dozens of drones and ballistic missiles, was carried out in retaliation for airstrikes by Riyadh in Yemen.
The targets hit included fighter jet hangars, radars, runways, ammunition depots, and other facilities at the King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, southwestern Saudi Arabia.
This move has raised concerns about the safety of oil exports through the Red Sea, as well as the potential impact on global oil supplies and prices. The Houthi force also announced that they had taken control of the islands of Greater Hanish and Lesser Hanish in the southern Red Sea.
The escalation of tensions in the region has put pressure on global oil markets, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining closed amid the US-Iran conflict.
