Houthi Drone Attack Kills Yemen Soldiers Amid Escalating Regional Hostilities
A Houthi missile and drone attack on Yemen's government forces has resulted in significant casualties. The assault involved ballistic missiles and drones, killing 17 soldiers and one officer, according to Yemen's army.
The attack comes amidst escalating hostilities in the region, with the Iran-aligned Houthi group intensifying both military operations inside Yemen and attacks on maritime targets linked to Saudi Arabia.
The Houthis claimed they had successfully targeted a Saudi oil tanker, the Daisy, in the Gulf of Aden earlier this week. The attack was part of what the group described as a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
