Houthi Drone Strikes Hit Saudi Oil Exports and Refineries
Houthi drone strikes have targeted Saudi oil exports and refineries, escalating attacks on the kingdom's energy infrastructure. According to a Houthi spokesman, multiple drones struck sensitive points involved in crude oil supply and transport from eastern Saudi Arabia to Yanbu.
The attack was described as a response to Saudi drones entering Yemeni airspace, with the Houthi group claiming to have shot down a Saudi Bayraktar Akinci turboprop USV over the northern border region. Satellite imagery suggests damage near the Abqaiq refinery and the ongoing burn at the Jizan refining complex.
The escalation in attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure comes as tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen remain high. The Houthi group has been waging a campaign against the Saudi-led coalition's presence in Yemen, with recent strikes targeting major energy facilities and infrastructure.
