Houthi Missile Attacks Slump Gulf Shipping Traffic

Shipping traffic through key Gulf chokepoints has significantly decreased following reports of Houthi missile attacks on Saudi oil tankers. On Wednesday, only two vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz, down from eight a day earlier, according to shipping data from Kpler. The Bab el-Mandeb saw just one commodity vessel cross the strait, down from 20 the previous day.

The Houthi militia claimed responsibility for missile attacks on Saudi tankers in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, but there was no confirmation from Riyadh. This comes as part of an ongoing naval blockade imposed by the Houthis on Saudi Arabia since last month.
