The Houthi group in Yemen has claimed responsibility for launching a ballistic missile attack on a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea. According to Yahya Sarea, the Houthi military spokesperson, the tanker 'Wafa' was targeted with ballistic missiles off the coast of Yanbu, a major Saudi port city.

The operation is part of the group's declared maritime campaign against Saudi-linked shipping, which they describe as a 'blockade-for-blockade' response. Sarea stated that the strike was precise and claimed it raised the number of targeted tankers since the start of the campaign to eight, while an additional 29 had been forced to reverse course.
