Houthi Rebels Attack Saudi Oil Facility Amid Tensions with Iran

Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for an attack on an oil facility in southwestern Saudi Arabia, targeting an Aramco refinery in the city of Jazan. According to Yahya Saree, a military spokesperson for the Houthis, the attack was in response to Saudi drones breaching Yemen's airspace over the provinces of Hajjah and Saada.

The Saudi Energy Ministry reported a fire at a facility belonging to the Aramco refinery without casualties, but did not specify its cause. The attack is part of a series of missile and drone attacks that have targeted Saudi Arabia and its shipping in the Red Sea.

In related news, Iran has made new demands regarding the restart of negotiations and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that 'from our perspective, negotiations cannot resume until the violations of the memorandum of understanding have ended and the United States has remedied the provisions of the memorandum that it violated.'

The Pentagon is also pushing for an increase in weapons production, citing a need to provide 'the weapons our warfighters need at the pace the threat demands.' The U.S. military's stockpiles of advanced missile interceptors have been depleted due to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
