Houthi Rebels Claim Airstrikes as Middle East Tensions Soar
Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed that Saudi-backed forces launched dozens of airstrikes across four provinces in Yemen, following attacks on oil facilities and utilities in Saudi Arabia. The strikes were reportedly carried out overnight, with no immediate reports of damage or injuries. This escalation comes as the conflict between the Houthis and Saudi-backed government forces in Yemen intensifies.
The Houthi rebels also stated that they had targeted several tankers and U.S. ships in retaliation for previous attacks on Iranian vessels. However, the U.S. Central Command disputed this claim, stating that all attempted attacks failed.
Meanwhile, the price of Brent crude oil rose above $100 per barrel due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The conflict has also led to condemnation from the United Nations and Turkey, with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen warning of the threat to civilians and efforts towards a political solution.
