NASA's FIRMS fire monitoring data shows five thermal anomalies at the refinery, which could indicate a large-scale event such as a missile strike or natural flare-up. However, the scale and timing of these anomalies are unusual for this location, suggesting that they may be related to the claimed attack.

The Jazan Refinery is one of the world's most advanced mega-scale integrated refining complexes, capable of processing 400,000 barrels of crude per day - about four percent of Aramco oil and liquids production on an ordinary day.
