Houthi Rebels Drive Brent Crude Toward $100 Per Barrel with Saudi Arabia Attacks
The Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched a series of attacks on energy and utility facilities in southern Saudi Arabia, driving Brent crude prices toward $100 per barrel.
The attacks struck Abha, Khamis Mushait, Najran, and Jizan, injuring over 70 people and forcing partial operational shutdowns. The Houthi rebels' spokesman Yahya Saree announced that the group is poised to launch broad military operations deep inside Saudi territory, marking a significant escalation in the conflict's intensity.
The oil market's reaction was swift, with Brent crude rising 1.65% to $98.65 per barrel and WTI crude gaining 2% to $93.31 per barrel. The Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia issued a safety advisory, urging Chinese institutions and citizens in the kingdom to closely monitor developments and take necessary security precautions.
