Houthi Rebels Launch Widespread Drone and Missile Strikes on Saudi Arabia
The Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by Iran, launched a series of drone and missile attacks on Saudi cities and oil installations. The strikes hit targets in Khamis Mushait, Abha, Najran, Jazan, and other locations along the Yemeni border.
Saudi officials reported that 73 people were wounded, including women and children, and that fires broke out at several oil facilities. Operations at these sites have been temporarily suspended due to the attacks.
The Houthi rebels claimed the strikes were in response to over 120 Saudi-led airstrikes on Yemen in the last three days. They used dozens of ballistic missiles and drones in the operation, targeting Aramco facilities and a major airbase.
Saudi officials condemned the attacks as a 'blatant violation' of their sovereignty and vowed to take all necessary measures to deter the Houthi rebels. Egypt and Qatar also weighed in on the situation, with both countries condemning the strikes as a threat to regional stability.
