Houthi Rebels Strike Saudi Oil Refinery and Port

The Yemeni Houthi rebels have launched attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil refinery and port in Mokha, killing at least 11 people, including three civilians and eight military personnel. The Houthis' military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had targeted 'Saudi enemy' troops and equipment in the area with missiles and drones.

The attack is part of a broader escalation between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, which has been backed by the internationally recognized government in Yemen. The conflict has its roots in the 2022 UN-backed accord that appeared to collapse last month as fighting between regional allies of the United States and Iran flared.

According to medical sources, a further 32 individuals were wounded, six of them civilians, with all civilian casualties resulting from strikes on Mokha's port. Two military sources confirmed at least eight troops had been killed in the strikes and more than 40 personnel injured.
