Houthi Rebels Target Aramco Facilities as Middle East Tensions Escalate
The conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate, with Yemen's Houthi rebels firing missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia in response to recent airstrikes on the strategic Red Sea city of Hodeida.
According to Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for the Iranian-backed rebels, they attacked facilities of Aramco, the world's largest oil company, in the Red Sea cities of Yanbu and Jizan.
The Houthi attacks came after Saudi airstrikes on Hodeida and Kamaran island, off Yemen's western coast, which are controlled by the Houthis. The Kingdom's civil defense said an alert sounded multiple times early on Saturday in Yanbu and Jizan.
In a separate development, Iran reported no new U.S. strikes overnight, marking a break of nearly two weeks of consecutive nights of U.S. attacks. However, tension remains high following a recent escalation over control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
