Houthi Rebels Target Aramco Facility Amid Ongoing Tensions in Strait of Hormuz
Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for a drone attack on an Aramco facility in Najran, Saudi Arabia. The facility was allegedly targeted in response to what the Houthi's described as Saudi military aircraft violating Yemen's sovereignty.
The Saudi authorities and Aramco have yet to confirm the attack. However, the incident highlights ongoing tensions between Iran-backed Houthi forces and Saudi Arabia in the region.
Elsewhere in the Strait of Hormuz, transit activity has been severely restricted following two more ship attacks. The United Arab Emirates' Abu Dhabi National Oil Company reported that two of its vessels were attacked while transiting the strait on Thursday evening.
The US and Iran have been engaged in a prolonged standoff since February, with the US maintaining a naval blockade to enforce retaliatory measures against Iran's alleged aggression. According to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, 'the United States Navy can maintain a blockade like that indefinitely' through rotational ship deployments.
