Houthi Rebels Target Saudi Oil Tankers in Red Sea and Gulf of Aden

Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels have launched missile attacks on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, according to their military spokesperson. The Houthis' Yahya Saree stated that they had attacked a tanker off the coast of Yanbu, a port city in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea region, and another in the Gulf of Aden. There was no confirmation from Saudi Arabia on either incident. The Houthis have imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia in response to what they describe as a siege by Riyadh on Yemen.

The Houthi rebels' actions are part of their ongoing conflict with Saudi Arabia, which has been accused of supporting the Yemeni government against the Houthis. The Houthis have claimed that their attacks are a response to the Saudi-led coalition's blockade on Yemen's ports and airports, which they say is an attempt to starve the population.
