Houthis Attack Aramco Facility Amid Rising Tensions Between Iran and US
Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for an attack on an Aramco oil facility in southwestern Saudi Arabia. The attack, which occurred on Sunday, was reportedly carried out with a drone and targeted an Aramco refinery in the city of Jazan.
The Saudi Energy Ministry confirmed that a fire broke out at the facility, but stated that there were no casualties. The ministry attributed the cause of the fire to 'technical reasons', without specifying further details.
This attack is the latest in a series of missile and drone strikes carried out by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia and its shipping in the Red Sea. The escalation of tensions threatens to reignite Yemen's civil war, which had subsided following a 2022 truce.
