Houthis Attack Saudi Aramco Facilities in Yanbu and Jizan
The Iran-backed Houthis launched attacks on Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu and Jizan, targeting oil tankers in the Red Sea. The strikes caused fires at the Jizan facility, with multiple alerts sounding in both cities.
In a statement, Houthi military spokesman Saree claimed that the attack was in response to 'blatant and criminal aggression' from Saudi Arabia, saying 'Both operations successfully achieved their objectives thanks to Allah Almighty, with accurate and direct strikes.'
The conflict has escalated tensions between Iran-backed Houthis and Saudi-led coalition forces fighting in Yemen. The Houthis have threatened to close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait to Saudi-linked shipping, which could disrupt 12% of global trade and a quarter of container traffic.
