Houthis Attack Saudi Refinery After Defense Pact Signed
The Iran-aligned Houthis have launched an attack on Saudi Aramco's Jazan refinery in southwestern Saudi Arabia, just two days after the kingdom signed a defense pact with Turkey and Pakistan. The alliance aims to strengthen collective deterrence against any act of aggression.
The Houthi military spokesperson claimed that a drone was used to target the refinery, which processes 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day. A fire broke out at the refinery but was later extinguished without injuries or damage to property.
The attack is the latest in a series of strikes on Saudi targets by the Houthis, who have also declared a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea. The Houthis claim that this is a response to what they call a Saudi siege on them, which Riyadh denies.
