Houthis Claim Attack on Aramco Refinery in Saudi Arabia
The Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed they had struck an Aramco oil facility on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, targeting the Aramco refinery in Jazan with a drone.
Aramco's industrial security firefighting teams extinguished a fire that broke out at the facility, according to the Saudi energy ministry. However, the cause of the blaze was not specified.
The Houthis have targeted Saudi Arabia's oil facilities before, including an attack on the Jazan refinery in July, which damaged the plant's Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) complex and tank farm area.
Aramco chief Amin Nasser said recent attacks had caused some production interruptions but that he was confident operations could be restored quickly. He stated that the attacks had no material operational or financial impact.
