Houthis Claim Drone Attack on Saudi Aramco Refinery Amid Escalating Tensions

The Houthis have claimed to have targeted an Aramco refinery in Saudi Arabia's Jizan region with two drones, according to their Saba news agency. The attack was allegedly in response to Saudi violations of Yemeni airspace and sovereignty in the provinces of Saada and Hajjah.

The Houthis also claim that the drones struck the refinery, but there is no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities on the attack or any damage caused. The incident comes amid a wider escalation between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.

The Houthi's latest claim follows several other attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure in recent days, including a reported drone strike on August 9 that allegedly targeted the Jizan refinery after a fire at an Aramco facility. The renewed tensions are affecting shipping and oil flows through the Red Sea, with some crude exports being rerouted through alternative routes.
