Houthis Claim Missile Attack on Saudi Arabia Amid Escalating Mideast Tensions
Tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate as Yemen's Houthi rebels claim they have hit Saudi Arabia with a missile attack, just hours after US President Donald Trump said he was weighing a harder strike on Iran.
The Houthis accused Riyadh of a 'dangerous escalation' after it struck their military targets following the rebels' announcement of a maritime blockade of top oil producer Saudi Arabia and hitting its ships in the Red Sea.
Riyadh did not immediately comment on the Houthi's Ansarollah media post on Telegram that a 'Yemeni missile strike' had sparked fires in Jizan, but their civil defense agency issued brief warnings to residents in the city as well as Yanbu.
Trump said he had not yet decided whether to launch major strikes on Iran, but reiterated his red line would be if Tehran was close to developing a nuclear weapon. The US has been carrying out strikes against Iranian military targets for nearly two weeks, with Trump saying Iran had a choice between making a deal or facing a 'much higher level' of strikes.
