The Houthi movement in Yemen has claimed responsibility for a missile strike on a Saudi oil tanker, Wafa, near the city of Yanbu. The group's military spokesperson said the attack was successful and part of their campaign to target Saudi maritime activity.

The Houthis have been targeting Saudi vessels since July 22, claiming that eight Saudi oil tankers have been targeted as part of the campaign. They also reported that 29 Saudi oil tankers changed course or returned after being prevented from continuing their journeys.

The incident has raised concerns about security in major maritime routes in the Middle East, including the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, and Strait of Hormuz.
