Houthis Claim Over 50 Saudi Strikes Amid Escalating Yemen Conflict

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have accused Saudi Arabia of launching over 50 strikes against them within a 24-hour period. This escalation comes after the group claimed responsibility for a rare drone and missile attack on a military base in the kingdom.

The renewed fighting between the Houthis and Saudi-backed government forces has been ongoing since July, when the Houthi declared a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia and began targeting its ships in the Red Sea.

The waterway at stake is the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital artery for Saudi oil exports. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed due to the Iran war.
