Houthis Claim Responsibility for Saudi Oil Refinery Attack
The Iran-aligned Houthis have claimed responsibility for an attack on an oil refinery in Saudi Arabia. The incident occurred just two days after Saudi Arabia signed a defense pact with Turkey and Pakistan, aimed at countering regional instability caused by the US-Israel war on Iran.
Iran's supreme national security council has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until the US meets its demands, which include permanently ending the war with Tehran and its allies in the region, withdrawing military forces from the area, compensating Iran for war damage, lifting sanctions, and releasing frozen assets.
The Saudi energy ministry reported a fire at Aramco's Jazan refinery early on Sunday but stated that it was extinguished without any injuries. The Houthis used a drone to target the refinery in south-west Saudi Arabia, citing what they called a 'Saudi siege' on them.
